![]() Blek le Rat (born Xavier Prou, 1951) is considered by many to be the ‘Godfather of Stencil Graffiti’ having begun his career in Paris in 1981, and was the first street artist to use a stencil on the street to produce his work. The auctioned dominio stone wears the autographs of the former mayor of Berlin Richard von Weizsäcker (former german president), the 6th president of the Bundesrat Klaus Schütz, former mayors of Berlin Walter Momper, Eberhard Diepgen and current mayor Klaus Wowereit. The work is entitled ‘Crooner Rat’ and is the most popular image in his Rat series, with the printed version being highly sought after globally. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the berlin wall, the wall of Lech Walesa was symbolically torn down again. Its thought the term was first coined in the 1850s when the graffiti and graffiti writing in Pompeii was discovered. The proceeds were then donated for a charity purpose.
